Did I Forget to Mention…..

That we’re having another baby?

Well, we are. He/She is due the third week of May.  Yes, they did give me an exact due date.  Wait…..No, actually, they gave me THREE due dates, and since Jonas didn’t give a shit when he was supposed to come, I’ve decided I don’t believe in due dates any longer.  To me, the ETA is some time in the months of April, May, or June.  That oughtta cover my bases.  And I guess if you want to narrow it down a bit more, then we’re back at my original statement of the third week in May.

In case you’re wondering, we’re hoping for a girl so we can have a complete set…. but obviously a boy will do just fine.  Jonas needs a sibling.  And I miss that new-baby smell.

Toodles.

I Think I’m The World’s Best Mother

Another letter from Daycare….

"John & Gina,
Just wanted to take a few minutes to let you both know how well Jonas is doing. He is really an easy-going little guy and has blended in with the other kids seamlessly. What a trooper! New house, new caregivers, new kids, and a vacation where he had Mom & Dad all to himself  for a week just before all of the other changes would have some kids melting down, but your sweetheart of a son seems to subscribe to the "Hey, you look nice, I think we can be friends…" theory of life. I hope he always stays so calm and adaptable — it will sure make his life easy!
He’s eating well (by that, I mean he’s willing to eat everything that isn’t nailed down) and sleeping on the same schedule as the other kids. Honestly, he’s a dream come true.
We’ve been giving Jonas one last snack at around 5 p.m. since he seems to be hungry around then. Is that okay? I hope that it doesn’t ruin his appetite for dinner. Also, I know that he eats a broad variety of foods — but is there anything that you would prefer that he doesn’t have? Obviously, we stay away from typical kid-allergens such as peanut butter, etc, but if there are other foods that you’d rather he doesn’t eat, just let us know. Typically, the kids have things like chicken nuggets, mac ‘n cheese, fish sticks, scrambled eggs, or grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. We also have things like crackers, NutriGrain bars, and lots of fresh fruit for snacks (we tend to be a little lax on the veggies…). We steer clear of pure junk like soda and chips, but I will admit to passing out cookies on a regular basis, and candy and/or cupcakes once in a while (usually when we are celebrating someone’s birthday, etc.).
We feel privileged to be a part of Jonas’ growing up years and want to do all that we can to make his time here fun and meaningful. If there are any specific things that you guys would like us to be doing (or not doing), please don’t hesitate to mention them.
Thanks,
Beth "

The Big Secret I Just Can’t Keep

We want another baby.  Badly.  Both John and I have been counting the days until we can start trying again.  We’re hoping for a girl next time so we can experience both, but we don’t care either way.

I was going to keep this a secret and (hopefully) surprise everyone with a pregnancy at Christmas, but then I started thinking that people would just assume I accidentally got knocked up again.   Nope….this time it’s planned.

We may have even brought home a little souvenir from our vacation

If we do get lucky, I’ll probably keep my mouth shut about it until after the 12th week when we know we’re in the clear.

So, wish us luck.  Conception isn’t nearly as easy as The Maury Show might have you believe.  It’s a wonder people get pregnant at all considering there’s really only about 48 hours out of the whole month that it’s even possible.

So far, I’m not doing any of the hardcore body temperature/ovulation kit stuff.  We’re going to have a good time and what happens in the next few months.  If nothing at all happens, then we’ll get a little more scientific about it.

Send me sticky baby vibes!

Too Cute Not To Post

Today was Jonas’s first day at the new daycare.  This is the email I just received from them.

"John & Gina,
Jamie is reading the kids a story so I thought I’d take a quick minute to send you guys a picture of Jonas. He’s having a great first day! Your little boy is a sweetheart; we are already falling in love with him!
Beth"
