I Think I’m The World’s Best Mother
Another letter from Daycare….
"John & Gina,
Just wanted to take a few minutes to let you both know how well Jonas is doing. He is really an easy-going little guy and has blended in with the other kids seamlessly. What a trooper! New house, new caregivers, new kids, and a vacation where he had Mom & Dad all to himself for a week just before all of the other changes would have some kids melting down, but your sweetheart of a son seems to subscribe to the "Hey, you look nice, I think we can be friends…" theory of life. I hope he always stays so calm and adaptable — it will sure make his life easy!
He’s eating well (by that, I mean he’s willing to eat everything that isn’t nailed down) and sleeping on the same schedule as the other kids. Honestly, he’s a dream come true.
We’ve been giving Jonas one last snack at around 5 p.m. since he seems to be hungry around then. Is that okay? I hope that it doesn’t ruin his appetite for dinner. Also, I know that he eats a broad variety of foods — but is there anything that you would prefer that he doesn’t have? Obviously, we stay away from typical kid-allergens such as peanut butter, etc, but if there are other foods that you’d rather he doesn’t eat, just let us know. Typically, the kids have things like chicken nuggets, mac ‘n cheese, fish sticks, scrambled eggs, or grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. We also have things like crackers, NutriGrain bars, and lots of fresh fruit for snacks (we tend to be a little lax on the veggies…). We steer clear of pure junk like soda and chips, but I will admit to passing out cookies on a regular basis, and candy and/or cupcakes once in a while (usually when we are celebrating someone’s birthday, etc.).
We feel privileged to be a part of Jonas’ growing up years and want to do all that we can to make his time here fun and meaningful. If there are any specific things that you guys would like us to be doing (or not doing), please don’t hesitate to mention them.
Thanks,
Beth "
